Does every Arizona employee need Title 4 training?

No. Arizona liquor law does not require all employees of licensed establishments to hold a Basic Title 4 Certificate of Completion. The obligation lands on management.

Who does have to be trained?

Owners, agents and managers actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the business need a Basic Certificate of Completion and a Management Certificate of Completion — both, not either. The Department may also require Title 4 training of applicants, licensees, managers, agents and other employees under A.R.S. 4-112(G)(2), so it can be imposed on staff case by case.

How long is Title 4 training valid, and how long does it take?

A Basic Title 4 certificate is valid for three years from the completion date recorded on it. A Basic On-sale course must run at least three hours excluding sign-in and break times, and the Department publishes a list of approved Title 4 trainers.

Does this course produce an Arizona Title 4 certificate?

No. Title 4 certificates come only from trainers on the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control's approved list, and Certification Experts is not on it. Use this course to give the rest of the floor — the servers Arizona does not reach — the same grounding the manager gets: carding technique, altered-ID detection, reading impairment from behaviour, and refusing a sale without escalating it.
