Maryland Alcohol Awareness Training (On-Premise)

Yes, but at establishment level. Maryland retail alcohol establishments must maintain at least one licensee or designated employee holding a current alcohol awareness certification. Many counties expect that certified person to be on premises whenever alcohol is served, with only a short permitted absence.

Four years from the issue date. Under COMAR 14.23.01.15 an approved programme must deliver a minimum of three hours of instruction and must confirm the student's identity with a government-issued photo ID before testing. Maryland does allow electronic delivery — programmes may be presented in classroom, individual or electronic format, and testing may be face-to-face or on a platform the Executive Director has certified.

Only a programme holding an Alcohol Awareness Program permit from the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Commission, taught by permitted instructors. Certification Experts does not hold that permit, so this course cannot issue the Maryland certificate. Your county liquor board or the ATCC register will tell you which programmes can.

If you want the skills, yes — and if you want the certificate, no substitute exists. Use this course to arrive at a permitted Maryland programme already fluent in carding, altered-ID tells, impairment recognition and clean refusals, and to keep those skills sharp across the four years before you have to recertify.
